Tyrell P34 1976

It managed to win one race, and posted fastest laps in 3 others. Eventually the idea was abandoned due to lack of development by Goodyear of the small front tires which were unique to this car. As for the front tires there is a misconception that they were used to cut down on frontal area and thus drag. In fact they were used to lower lift cause by the normal large front tires and increase brake swept area. The frontal area does not decrease due to the enormous rear tires.

I SO wish F1 would go back to having anything goes rules where it paid off to design  something wacky and innovative!!
