North American B-25 Mitchell

I would say this is one of the prettiest airplanes from WWII but I think there really arent any from that era that are ugly!

Peugeot 905, 905 Evo 1, and 905 Evo 2 1990-1993

The evolutions of the 905 get pretty radical from the first variation on top to the last one on the bottom. The fourth picture is a rain tire developed for the Evo 2 but that car was never raced only tested. Peugeot was quite successful however winning Le Mans two years in a row (1992-1993) and actually coming in 1st 2nd and 3rd in 1993.

I remember Continental having a tire just like that for road cars at some point. I think it was called the Aqua Contact…or something similar.

Bill Thomas Cheetah 1965

…damn that’s a lot of curves!

In the late 50's, Thomas had tremendous success racing Corvettes and he gained the attention of influential men within GM. By 1960, Thomas had started his own company and he continued his chain of successes by making other GM products such as the Corvair and Chevy II run circles around the competition. In 1963, Thomas used his connections to gain covert support from GM (through the head of its Performance Product Group, Vince Piggins) to develop a concept vehicle. The prototype was designed jointly by Thomas and his lead fabricator at the time, Don Edmunds. Edmunds is also credited with the bulk of the construction of the car. Financing for the project came from private investors including Thomas himself and John Grow, a Rialto, California Chevrolet dealer. In fact, the first car belonged to John Grow. Using his racing connections, Thomas arranged for material assistance from Chevrolet for the major components - specifically, the Corvette engine, transmission and rear-end assemblies. Whats amazing is that the chassis was basically designed and build by laying the drivetrain components on the floor and drawing a chassis outline around them on the floor with chalk!

There's quite a lot more to the story so I'll include the Wikipedia link.Sadly the company that bought the rights to build continuation copies has gone bankrupt and put all their assets up for sale...so far there have been no buyers.

Venturi 400 GT 1995

A Venturi model built specifically to fulfill requirements to certify the car for the Le Mans 24 hour race. This car featured a nice twin turbo V6 with 408 hp. The 400 GT could hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds and 291 km/h (181 mph) top speed. Not as  insanely quick as say a contemporary F40 but certainly much more comfortable since it has all the normal amenities for a road car. Still looks the part of a homologation special though! Said to be the first road car with carbon brakes.

Funny enough I have a Venturi carbon fiber skate board…

Boeing B-29 Superfortress

This particular one is FIFI, the last flying B-29.

Toyota Landcruiser series 80

Toyota Land Cruiser 80 series 6 wheeler I spotted while driving around the Eyre Peninsula in Australia. Don’t know if it was 6x6 or if it was just an added axle to carry or tow a heavier load.

Toyota Landcruiser series 60

Odd combo of a Landcruiser with a flame job...but I think it pulls it off!

Lord Howe Island, Australia

Australia really IS amazing! One of these days I shall go back...

Unexpected

Not quite a sleeper…but an unexpected engine choice none the less!

Thunder Mustang

This is a carbon fiber 3/4 scaled replica of the P-51 Mustang using a Falconer 601 ci V-12. There have been two built using turbine power as well.

As a amusing side note…I almost did my college internship at Falconer.

Dem Duke boys...always up to no good

Yeeehaaa!!

Lake Tahoe, California

Absolutely gorgeous up there...

Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress

The damage many WWII planes could take and still make it back is absolutely amazing!

Tyrell P34 1976

It managed to win one race, and posted fastest laps in 3 others. Eventually the idea was abandoned due to lack of development by Goodyear of the small front tires which were unique to this car. As for the front tires there is a misconception that they were used to cut down on frontal area and thus drag. In fact they were used to lower lift cause by the normal large front tires and increase brake swept area. The frontal area does not decrease due to the enormous rear tires.

I SO wish F1 would go back to having anything goes rules where it paid off to design  something wacky and innovative!!

Porsche 911 (993 series) GT2

Without a doubt my all time favorite 911!

Two Lane Blacktop

…a classic film! Gotta love being able to drive cross country and drag race to earn enough to keep going.

Route 66

Definitively on the bucket list. In a convertible 60 Caddy...

Cizetta Moroder V16 1991-present

Designed by Marcello Gandini who also designed the Lamborghini Countach. This design was actually Gandini’s original proposal for the Lamborghini Diablo until Chrysler bought Lamborghini and changed the design. Interestingly the engine is not only a V16, but it sits transversely in the engine bay!

Amazingly this car can still be bought on a made to order basis!

The 5th highest peak in California

Toyota Land Cruiser series 60/62

Cant tell without looking at the headlights. Looks perfect though with those ambulance type doors and that lift/tire combo!

Bugatti EB 110 SS 1994

A stunning tour de force with a quad turbo V12 and all wheel drive. The all carbon fiber bodywork version is the last of the line unfinished chassis bought from Bugatti after it went bankrupt and built by Dauer. The Dauer version weighs 500 lbs LESS than the Bugatti version! that baby must haul some serious ass...

Iso Grifo 90 1991

Basically a re-bodied Corvette. It does look light years better though IMHO. The unusual pop down headlight covers are pretty cool as well.

Kaiser M813 6x6 1970 shortened to 4x4

Talk about your post apocalypse truck! This thing is buuurly. I think the only thing I would change would be to add a camper box in the back instead of the pickup box.

FIAT 131 Abarth

World rally champion 1977, 1978, and 1980. Gotta love that look, tiny car, big flares and wide tires!
